Pep Guardiola wants Raphaël Varane to sign for Bayern Munich

Or that is what Marca's frontpage states today.

Bayern Munich are looking for a new centerback and, according to Marca, Raphaël Varane is the man Pep Guardiola is interested on. As we can read on their frontpage today, Guardiola would have met with Jorge Mendes last December in order to ask him to start pulling his strings to see Varane flying to Munich next summer. They even claim that our centerback could be willing to leave Madrid if Pepe's contract is extended once again, as he would continue to be a second choice for a little longer.

There are several reasons to take this with a grain of salt and not to worry too much. Having extended Varane's contract until 2020 in the beginning of the season and, most importantly, taking into account how difficult it would be to find a good and young centerback for an affordable price, it would not make sense for Real Madrid to sell Varane. Furthermore, as far as I know (and Transfermarkt believes the same) Mendes is not Varane's agent, but we will try to confirm this information later on today.

In any case, until the contract extensions of Pepe and Ramos are confirmed or ruled out, the rumors regarding the future of any of Real Madrid's centerbacks will keep flowing. We will try to give you the best information we can.
