Spanish daily As reported today that Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz could be under Real Madrid's radar to replace Pepe in the Spanish capital. The original source is the Daily Express, so this should be taken with a grain -- if not a whole ton -- of salt.
After all, David Luiz is not a better defender than Pepe right now. PSG bought him last summer for €50 million and one has to think that they probably don't want to get rid of him this soon. It's true that Pepe's contract expires in 2016, something that forces Real Madrid to either find a replacement or sign him to an extension. However, with Raphaël Varane waiting for his chance in the sidelines, Real Madrid's board won't likely make a big signing for the center back position any time soon. And it could be argued that Luiz would not be that big of a signing, right?
