Luka Modric will not be able to feature in Croatia's match against Malta next week, according to the following statement released by the Croatian national team.
"Luka underwent a MRI which showed swelling on his groin. He will not be available against Malta."
This injury should not be big enough to keep him out of Real's next European matches against PSG, but Modric should be monitored in order to recover properly from these tricky muscle injuries that could very well mean a setback for him if Benítez doesn't give him time.
Modric is the second Real Madrid player picking up an injury during this FIFA break. Karim Benzema will also be out for around three weeks after injuring his hamstring during France's win against Armenia. These two players are crucial starters within Benítez's system so Real Madrid have been very unlucky so far with this FIFA break. On the other hand, James and Danilo should be back with the squad soon.
