Keylor Navas was given the task of replacing Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas after the club also tried to sign David De Gea this past summer only to fail at the deadline. Nobody expected Navas to perform this well at Real but he has cemented his place into the Starting XI and no fan speaks about Casillas or De Gea now.
That's why Real Madrid are ready to give Navas a contract extension and a raise, according to Marca. Now, this doesn't mean that Madrid are giving up on De Gea, per that same report. It wouldn't make sense to make that approach for the Spanish goalkeeper if Navas keeps playing this way, but that's what Marca are saying anyway.
Keylor deserves that new deal and Real Madrid would be wise to give it to him and show the keeper the confidence he deserves after his good performances. Maybe keeping Keylor at the deadline was a blessing in disguise.
