This isn't shocking. Transfer news on the Spanish press during the first day of a FIFA break. This time it's SPORT saying that both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona want to sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, with the Brazilian playmaker having chosen Barça because of their playing style, per that report.

Coutinho's agents have talked with Real Madrid and Barcelona as Liverpool have changed their manager. SPORT believe that Barcelona could try to sign the player this very same January so that he could help their squad during the second half of the season. However, Coutinho is Liverpool's main star and it will not be easy for any bluc to sign him away from Anfield given how well he's developed as a player throughout the last couple of years.

It's unclear how Coutinho would fit in Real's system. Would he compete with James and Isco for one spot? Is he a better player than those two?
