Just when Real Madrid fans were starting to get excited about having a healthy squad in anticipation of the recent Clasico, injuries reared their ugly head again with Dani Carvajal now being their latest victim.
According to the club website:
Following the tests carried out on Dani Carvajal today in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a muscle injury on his left thigh. His condition will be evaluated.
So what does this mean? Well, given that Marcelo and Sergio Ramos are out with injury and that Danilo and Nacho are deputizing for them, respectively, Alvaro Arbeloa might get a chance to see some minutes in Carvajal's place. Problem is that Arbeloa hasn't gotten much playing time this season (and probably for good reason) and was recently injured himself.
Luckily, Marcelo is training with the ball on the pitch as part of his recovery process and the schedule leading into the holiday break isn't too bad so Madrid could likely weather this storm once he returns and Danilo shifts back over to the right, but with the offense still figuring out some kinks it's imperative that the defense holds up its end of the bargain and persistent injuries like this aren't helping matters.
Best of luck to Dani on his recovery, however long it may be.
