Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez was hoping to upgrade the Santiago Bernabéu in the upcoming years but this project has been rejected by the city of Madrid. The Major, Manuela Carmena, said "no" to this upgrade barely three days before Election Day in Spain, adding that they "will only accept a remodelling proposal that does not affect the interests of local citizens."

Real Madrid wanted to add a shopping center inside the stadium and also a hotel to increase the revenue during match days. The Major also said that a new project would only be considered if it fits the best interests of the general public.

This is bad news for Florentino Pérez, who wanted to add this upgrade to his legacy as Real Madrid's President. Nothing is working for Pérez at the moment as he is experiencing his most difficult months as the President of Real Madrid. Will this affect the club?
