Nobody expected Marco Asensio to play this well in his first season in the Spanish Primera División. The Real Madrid youngster is definitely an outstanding prospect but he is also a good player already, as he's proven during his time with Espanyol this season.

Real Madrid's struggles suggested that Los Blancos could try to bring him back this same winter so that he could help the first team, but Los Blancos ultimately decided to keep him with Espanyol so that he could play more often and develop properly as a player.

Asensio has played in 14 games for Espanyol and he's also delivered 8 assists, showing that he's a true playmaker. The most important thing for Asensio right now is to start all the games he can and keep improving his knowledge of the Primera División as he matures as a player too.

Asensio will turn 20 years old next January.
