James Rodríguez and Marcelo will be forced to miss next Saturday's derby against Atlético de Madrid if they get booked on Wednesday when Sevilla visit the Bernabéu. Those would be two big absences for Ancelotti, so the Italian coach could decide to leave them both on the bench against Sevilla in order to make sure that they will be available for what should be a much more demanding clash when they face Simeone and his troops.
If so, Illarramendi -- or Lucas Silva -- would be set to start this next Wednesday in James' spot, while Coentrao would fill Marcelo's shoes. Sevilla will be a tough team to beat, but nowhere close an away trip to the Vicente Calderón, where Atlético de Madrid always give Real Madrid a tough challenge.
When asked about whether he will make changes for Wednesday's game, Ancelotti said the following.
We might, because it's true that we need all of our players fresh for the Derby.
And so it seems that the Italian coach was not too worried about the yellow cards, for the moment.
