Real Madrid's 4-0 loss to Atlético de Madrid has had a big impact on the press. Spanish websites El Confidencial, SportYou and Catalan newspaper Sport report today that President Florentino Pérez would be willing to sell Cristiano Ronaldo this next summer. It reads as follows.

Florentino Pérez is willing to sell Cristiano Ronaldo. A top Real Madrid employee said this last Monday. "The President's has opened his eyes during these last few days". According to this same report, Real's President will accept the best available offer, and there is no going back. The reasons behind this decision are the game at the Calderón and Cristiano Ronaldo's 30th birthday.

El Confidencial also report Manchester United's interest. "They're willing to launch a record bid. Until now, Florentino has refused to listen to his inner circle about the advantages of selling Ronaldo. Cristiano is well amortized and everything that we can get from his sale would be used to improve the squad".

Cristiano Ronaldo is going through a dip in form, there's no question about it. Furthermore, his decision to celebrate his 30th birthday party right after the 4-0 loss -- though the event was already scheduled and it was inconvenient to postpone it -- has been controversial.

But it is extremely difficult to believe this report. Cristiano Ronaldo is still completing a very good season and to find a replacement for him would almost be an impossible task. These reports by El Confidencial, SportYou and Sport should not be taken very seriously for the time being.
