This is what Paco González reported in Cadena Cope last night.

Pepe's return to Real Madrid's defensive line was a real improvement for our team last night, and he showed no sign of fatigue or reminiscence of his injury. The best Real Madrid defender this season was back and that was one of the keys to the convincing performance by Los Blancos.

It is a well-known fact that Real Madrid's coaches, commanded by Carlo Ancelotti, and managers are very pleased by the output produced by Pepe this season, and, according to Paco González, the director of Cadena Cope's show Tiempo de Juego, they have decided to offer the Portuguese centerback a contract extension next summer.

Pepe's current contract will expire in June 2016, when he will be 33 years old, and this is why, according to Paco González, Real Madrid will only offer him a one-year extension. If he continues to take care of his body like he has done so far, he should not have any problem to be a good asset for Real Madrid's defence, although we should expect that he will reduce his participation as Varane's importance in the roster needs to keep rising.
