Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media after the 0-2 win against Elche. First, he had some words on Isco's amazing performance (which earned a standing ovation) and was asked if he will remain a starter once Carlo has a full squad again:
Isco is playing great game after game. About what his role will be whenever the other players returns, I'll think about that once those guys are back.
Jesé barely had a handful of seconds against Elche. The Italian coach was asked about that peculiar substitution:
I did that to waste time and end the game. We had the substitution prepared three minutes before it happened, but it wouldn't have made any difference either way.
On breaking José Mourinho's record of wins in his first 100 games:
I think we've done a good job so far and we will try to improve for the next 100.
Thanks to Málaga's win at the Camp Nou and tonight's win, Real Madrid now has a four-point lead over Barcelona:
This was a key game for us especially after what happened yesterday. We had a chance to extend our lead over Barcelona and we did a great job in every aspect: offensively, defensively, in terms of quality. We played a great game.
On if this is the kind of games that end up deciding championships:
I think that with this kind of attitude we will win lots of games. The team understood this was a very important game. In terms of focus, we were great. Everyone worked well. The team is slowly improving and we're getting in better shape, but we have to keep it up.
On his squad's improvements in the last few weeks:
It's pretty clear that after the loss against Atlético, we've kept three straight clean sheets. The team has started to defend better, together. We haven't allowed goals or lots of chances. This is where the team has improved the most.
On Elche's chances of avoiding relegation:
Elche is a quality squad. They struggled to show that quality since our two defenders limited their attack and didn't allow any counter attacks, but they are a good, well-organised team. They have to fight, but they have the quality it takes to stay up.
More on Barcelona's surprising defeat:
That was a loss that surprised everyone. Barcelona was enjoying a great moment and they were playing very well. We have an advantage over them right now, but like I have said before, this Liga will come down to the last match.
Did Carlo think Real Madrid would get any result other than a win?:
Not at all. The team played great in the first half too. We had chances, including Ronaldo hitting the post. We played well and had the game under control. We just had to keep it up for the second half, and that's exactly what we did.
