James Rodríguez set to have surgery in Murcia today

After knowing that he has a fracture on the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, James Rodríguez is set to repair his broken bone in Murcia, Spain. Xabi Alonso had surgery in this very same clinic during the summer of 2013 and recovered properly from the injury, although it's true that the process took longer than expected.

If everything goes according to plan, James Rodríguez should be back with the squad in around three months, meaning that he is going to miss a big part of the season. Ancelotti will now need to find a permanent replacement in the center-midfield, at least until Luka Modric is back with the squad, something that should happen three weeks from now. Until then, expect either Illarramendi, Sami Khedira or new signing Lucas Silva to replace James in the midfield, with Kroos and Isco completing the midfield trio in Ancelotti's 4-3-3 formation. Further updates on James' surgery should be released later today.
