Luka Modric is back. He already made his return to the Santiago Bernabéu during Real Madrid's 3-4 loss against Schalke coming in as a substitute during the second half. But in order for him to be ready for El Clásico on March 22nd, Modric needs to get more minutes, and that's exactly what will happen this Sunday, when Real Madrid host Levante at the Bernabéu.
Carlo Ancelotti will keep Toni Kroos on the bench, as the German midfielder will miss El Clásico if he gets booked this Sunday. Real's coach will play it safe and start Modric instead, who could be playing alongside Lucas Silva and Illarramendi, given that Isco is in the exact same situation as Toni Kroos.
All in all, it still seems a bit premature to give Modric a starting role in El Clásico. While he's a crucial player for this Real Madrid team, his lack of competitive rhythm and minutes over the last four months make his presence on the starting XI questionable.
