Real Madrid are apparently still looking to add a left back to the squad. Fàbio Coentrao is already on his way out of the club and this means that Los Blancos would need to find either a backup for Marcelo or a key starter who fights with the Brazilian for the spot. According to Marca, Real Madrid are interested in Bayern Munich star David Alaba.
Per that report, David Alaba's father and agent met with Real Madrid representatives in Vienna to analyze the possibilities of a potential transfer. It would not be easy to buy a key starter away from Pep Guardiola -- Kroos' situation was different as his contract was going to expire soon --, but both the club, the player and his agent would be willing to give it a try. Negotiations could start around €40 million.
Alaba is a natural left back who could also play in the midfield, but Guardiola is mostly using him as a left-center back in a three-man defensive line after the signing of Juan Bernat.
