Real Madrid centerback Pepe will not be able to play for Portugal against Serbia tomorrow, as coach Fernando Santos said a couple of hours ago. Our #3 has spent the whole week trying to recover from a minor trauma but, after completing the last training session with his partners, has been ruled out for the game as his condition is not optimal yet. Santos' words were the following:

Pepe is an extraordinary professional that did his best to recover from this minor trauma proggresively increasing his work intensity. Unfortunately, his condition is not the best yet and we will leave him out.

Pepe will continue to work with Portuguese National Team until Wednesday, when he might have some minutes in a friendly match against Cape Verde, in Coimbra. In principle, he should not have any problem to be back at work in Madrid on Thursday and feature against Granada next Sunday.
