Real Madrid completed the signing of FC Porto's right back Danilo by spending €31.5 million, but Los Blancos were not the only club that wanted to sign the Brazilian defender, according to Jugones and multiple Spanish outlets.

In fact, Barcelona-based paper Sport reported almost two months ago that Neymar "had signed" Danilo for FC Barcelona, although they admitted that negotiations with FC Porto were still pending.

Danilo's signing for Real Madrid adds a lot of depth to the roster, meaning that both him and Carvajal will fight for a spot. He could also play in the midfield if needed, as that's where he started his career in Brazil. But it's also almost equally important that FC Barcelona will have to look elsewhere to replace Dani Alves.
