According to sources within the Real Madrid dressing room, the club needs to brace itself for the worst news possible as it looks like central midfielder Luka Modric will likely miss the pivotal Champions League second leg versus rivals Atletico Madrid.
REPORT | Modric will ALMOST SURELY miss Wednesday's Derby.

Modric was forced to be taken off in the second half versus Malaga with what seemed to be a knee knock. While the injury didn't look to be anything serious, certainly nothing like an ACL tear from initial reactions, it seems to be a bad enough injury where manager Carlo Ancelotti will be forced to field a replacement on Wednesday and probably longer. What adds to this injury is that Gareth Bale had to come off in the early stages of the game due to a calf injury. Though Ancelotti hasn't ruled them out yet and is hoping they're available, it certainly seems as if at least one of them will have to sit out the game, if not both.
According to José Luis Sánchez, Modric could be out 5 to 6 weeks if his injury is confirmed.
La primera exploración en vestuario a Modric: esguince ligamento lateral externo. De confirmarse en las pruebas, 5-6 semanas de baja.

Hopefully Karim Benzema will be able to make a quick return while Isco can fill in for Bale, but the knock to Modric might be the most fatal of them all as no one on the bench is a direct replacement for his skillset.
