It wasn't easy, it wasn't solid and it wasn't pretty, but Real Madrid earned the win in Balaídos thanks to a brace by Chicharito Hernández and some good luck on their side.
- Orellana comletely destroyed Real's midfield. Kroos and Illarramendi were caught sleeping way too often, and Orellana was able to get involved multiple times playing as Celta's attacking midfielder/second striker. The presence of Illarramendi as a pure midfielder should have prevented Celta from enjoying those chances, but the young midfielder once again proved that he is not ready for elite challenges just yet.
- Real Madrid should try to defend properly against Juventus, Valencia and Sevilla. If they are given the chance to score twice, Ancelotti's men will have a very hard time clawing their way back in the game. Celta de Vigo played really well and exposed the flaws within Real Madrid's system: it requires a huge amount of intensity to work even against manageable opposition.
- Both flanks were vulnerable on defense. Marcelo and Carvajal played terribly and they did not get any help from Isco, Illarramendi, Kroos or James. That's why Nolito completed one of his finest performances in La Liga and Real Madrid struggled that much.
- Chicharito's great form is not a joke. Not only did the Mexican score a brace, he also provided good support to his teammates with his runs and defensive work rate. There is no doubt: If he wants to stay with Real Madrid, Los Blancos should make an effort and make his loan deal a permanent one right away.
