Carlo Ancelotti reflected on Real Madrid's elimination in the Champions League against Juventus:
The team played with pride and the players did their best. We attacked a lot, with quality, and had enough chances to have managed to score the second goal.
If there is something that we should criticize is that we did not play the first leg with the same intensity as we did today.
In general, I am proud of what my players have done throughout the season. They have done their best. We have had several injuries but they have stood up for the team.
Football is a matter of tiny details. Last season, we won the UEFA Champions League in the last minute, with a bit of good luck. Today, we had bad luck.
Speaking about the future now is pointless. We still have two league games that we will try to win, and we will speak later. I would like to stay here, but I know how football works.
Real Madrid vice-captain Sergio Ramos also spoke to the press right after the game:
This is a tough situation. The team fights to get better and win trophies, but today we have to say good-bye to the competition. It is a shame because we were the favorites to get to Berlin and defend the title.
Juventus has earned the right to get to the final. They have performed better than us and that is why we must acknowledge their merit. We had chances to increase our advantage, but we missed them, and that is what sent us away.
After Morata's goal we broke down a little. It is a shame to have been eliminated after fifteen goal occasions.
Every defeat hurts, but we must think carefully about all this and reach conclusions. It hurts to have worked so hard throughout the season to finally win nothing.
