Toni Kroos completed his first season playing as a defensive midfielder with no trophies conquered. When Ancelotti decided to give him Alonso's role early in the season, many were skeptic, but Kroos has been able to sustain the squad for most games although his lack of experience in that spot has been visible in other matches.
The German has shown support to Carlo Ancelotti after Real Madrid were knocked out of the Champions League:
"On behalf of the squad I must say Ancelotti is a top coach. I love working with him, he's a great coach. I enjoy playing for him, the rest is not my decision."
Kroos and most of the squad want Ancelotti to stay, most likely. However, other players like Isco, Keylor or Jesé might think different. It will be very interesting to see what happens this summer, as Real Madrid usually sack the coach whenever they finish a season empty-handed.
