Farewell, Carlo.

As it had been announced, Florentino Pérez gave a press conference this evening at the Santiago Bernabéu. It had been rumoured that the reason to talk to the press was to communicate that Carlo Ancelotti will not continue to be our coach next season, and President Pérez confirmed the rumours.

Real Madrid's managing board has decided to fire Carlo Ancelotti. As you may all imagine, this has been a very difficult decision to make, but we have to decide what we think is best for the club.

Carlo Ancelotti has earned the affection of the whole managing board, including mine, and also of all Real Madrid fans. He is the man who brought us La Décima, but we believe now that Real Madrid needs a new boosting. We will tell everyone next week who our coach for the next season will be.

We have reached a final decision very recently, just a few minutes ago, although we had been thinking about it throughout the whole season, like we do every year.

President Pérez did not want to say anything about Real Madrid's future coach, although he somehow hinted that Rafa Benítez might be the chosen one:

Yes, it would be really positive if our next coach spoke Spanish.
