Rafael Benítez wants to have both Fàbio Coentrao and Asier Illarramendi on his Real Madrid roster, according to Marca. Although both players were already on their way out of the club, Carlo Ancelotti's departure and the potential hiring of Benítez could give them another chance to succeed with Real Madrid.
Coentrao could still hear some offers if Real Madrid find an affordable left-back. Los Blancos are interested in Gayà, David Alaba and Porto's Alex Sandro, but those three signings are almost impossible right now, per that same Marca report.
Meanwhile, Illarramendi decided not to leave Real Madrid during the winter transfer market and his determination could now pay off. The Basque midfielder did not have a great relationship with Carlo Ancelotti but Benítez's arrival could change his situation for good. It seems quite evident that Benítez will want to play with a pure defensive midfielder, something that gives Illarramendi more chances of becoming an important player.
