Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes could be Rafael Benítez's assistant coach in Real Madrid, according to COPE. Morientes spent some years playing under Benítez when he signed for Liverpool FC.

Morientes is now a commentator for COPE, where he discusses all things Real Madrid. Considering that this is the same radio station where the report is coming from, this information is probably one that should not be taken lightly.

Real Madrid should probably think twice before adding a journalist -- that's what Morientes has been doing for the last two years -- to the staff, because that could cause some serious leaks. Ortego, also a COPE reporter, is also one of Benitez's friends in the Spanish press, meaning that COPE's reports are now more reliable than ever.

Benítez's coaching staff will likely be confirmed during his unveiling as Real Madrid's coach. The announcement and press conference is expected to happen next Wednesday.
