Not only the British papers are reporting Real Madrid's interest in Raheem Sterling anymore. Benítez, who will be appointed as Real Madrid's coach early this week, will play a decisive part on Sterling's future, according to ABC. The winger would rather join Real Madrid and be coached by Benítez than sign for Manchester City or Manchester United, per that same report.
Although this signing wouldn't make much sense given how deep the squad is on the flanks, Sterling wouldn't be a bad acquisition for Los Blancos. Furthermore, Spanish paper ABC have good sources that probably let them know he is a real target for Real.
Benítez will be the one making the final call on Real's interest in Sterling. The winger could leave Liverpool for around €45 million, a fee that Benítez might be willing to spend on improving another part of the squad right now. It will be a long summer for Real Madrid.
