OFFICIAL: Real Madrid target signs extension

Real Madrid will have to look elsewhere for a left-back.

Gayà said "no" to a Real Madrid move by signing a contract extension with Valencia CF. His new buyout clause will be around €50 million, something Real Madrid will not be willing to pay for his services.

Thought to be Real's main target for the upcoming transfer window, Gayà would have been a very interesting signing for Los Blancos considering his €18 million clause. Now, he has decided to stay and snub a move to the Spanish capital.

With Real Madrid determined to add some depth to the team's left-back position -- Coentrao will leave --, the rumors about David Alaba will not stop any time soon. Would he be willing to leave Bayern Munich just like Toni Kroos did? One thing is for certain: Real Madrid will need to sign a quality left-back this summer if they want to have a backup for Marcelo.
