Carlo Ancelotti kept Carvajal and Marcelo on the bench against Valencia, but neither Varane nor Karim Benzema were able to make it into the team's final list, raising some concerns over their physical condition. However, club sources contacted by Managing Madrid told that both players are fine and resting ahead of the demanding return leg of the Champions League Semifinals against Juventus.
REPORT | Raphaël Varane is just resting. Karim Benzema is fine, no chances taken.

Ancelotti could have probably used another game to rest his players, as Valencia will be a tough challenge for Los Blancos. If Alcácer and Co. manage to hang in there, Carlo Ancelotti will surely miss Benzema's presence on his bench, as Real will be lacking some attacking threats ready to change the course of the game. He will be able to count on Benzema next Wednesday though, that's for sure.
