Although it seems that Real Madrid are not going to sign an elite midfielder this summer, Spanish radio station COPE reports that Real Madrid have shown their interest in Arturo Vidal because Rafa Benítez wants to sign the Chilean midfielder.
During the Copa América, it seems that Real Madrid talked to Vidal before he arrived in Chile. Rafa Benítez wants him, said Vero Brunati.
It wouldn't make much sense for Real Madrid to go after Vidal. The Juventus midfielder did perform very well against Real Madrid in the Champions League Semifinals, but he will not get any better. Furthermore, there are some bad reports about his attitude off the pitch. Real might need another midfielder, and one that matches Vidal's playing style if Casemiro isn't ready just yet, but the Chilean player could cost up to €50 million and Real Madrid could find a more affordable asset to add some depth to the roster.
