Although many reports from England suggested that Rafa Benítez wanted to sign Raheem Sterling, Sky Sports' Guillem Balagué now says that Los Blancos have no interest in signing the Liverpool FC winger.
According to Balagué, Sterling is not as big a figure as Real Madrid would expect, so they will look elsewhere to find their new galáctico. Balagué added that the only player that could be available for Real Madrid is Sergio Agüero, a player who was on Real Madrid's radar for some years during the José Mourinho era.
Rafa Benítez knows Raheem Sterling since he was managing Liverpool FC, so that's why the press speculated with Real Madrid's interest. Sterling is indeed a very good prospect but Real Madrid have more than enough players on the wings, meaning that they will likely go after a midfielder or a pure striker instead.
Apparently, Real Madrid no longer have interest in Sterling, so it will be interesting to see where the winger ends up playing next season after publicly stating that he wants a move out of Liverpool.
