FC Porto announced last week that they had executed their option to buy Casemiro from Real Madrid, meaning that Los Blancos had to make a decision about Casemiro's future. Real Madrid kept a buyback option and executed it as well, so Casemiro will be on Real's roster next season, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
Casemiro would have probably stayed with Porto if Ancelotti's was Real Madrid's coach, club sources told Managing Madrid. The Italian manager did not rate him very high and the player himself wasn't happy with the role Ancelotti gave him during the 2013-2014 season. Benítez's arrival has changed this scenario entirely, though. Apparently, the Spanish coach wants Casemiro to become an important player in this roster and the midfielder's playing style fits what he wants for this squad.
There's no official confirmation about Casemiro just yet, but expect an announcement from either Porto or Real Madrid in the upcoming days.
