Former Castilla player Lucas Vázquez will join Real Madrid this summer after spending one season on loan with Espanyol, according to Marca. Vázquez is a right winger who will add some depth to that position.
Espanyol had the right to buy Vázquez this summer, and so they did, but Real Madrid kept a buyback clause of €1 million that they will execute in order to have Vázquez on the roster. Per that same Marca report, Benítez asked the club to bring Vázquez back as he was impressed with his performances last season.
Vázquez never showed that kind of potential with Castilla, so it was very surprising to see him play for Espanyol last year. It will be interesting to see what Benítez has in mind for him given the quality of the attacking players Real already have on the roster, but Vázquez could be an interesting role player to give the starters some rest every now and then.
