Just like Dani Carvajal did a couple days ago, left-back Marcelo da Silva has signed a contract extension with Real Madrid this morning. If nothing goes wrong before, our beloved #12 will keep wearing the white T-shirt until 2020. His continuity, together with that of Coentrao's (whose contract expires in 2019, according to Transfermarkt) makes Los Blancos keep one of the best left-back couples in the world.

Marcelo's contract extension comes a bit sooner than expected, given that his previous contract was to expire in 2018, and Real Madrid usually tackles these extension issues two years ahead of expiration. Still, the rumors about this deal have been quite loud in the past week, so we can't say it has come as a surprise.
