Iker Casillas bid farewell to Real Madrid this morning in a very lonely press conference. Some fans were surely wondering why President Florentino Pérez or Emilio Butragueño weren't there. Why wasn't Casillas surrounded by all the trophies he conquered while he was a Real Madrid player? The answer is fairly simple: He wanted to say good-bye that way, according to Marca.

While Florentino Pérez and Iker Casillas were on the same page about havinf a big testimonial at the Bernabéu with fans saying good-bye to the captain, Casillas changed his mind after the negotiations. He wasn't happy with Real Madrid's attitude throughout their talks and decided that it wasn't right to have the company of club's representatives during his press conference.

Nonetheless, it was quite shocking to see Casillas not willing to answer questions from the reporters. He always had a good relationship with them and he probably had no reasons to be afraid of them.

It was a lonely and sad farewell ceremony, but it was the one he wanted.
