Rafa Benítez spoke to Real Madrid TV about the the pre-season stage his team is taking care of in Australia. The Spanish coach seems happy about his players' work so far.
The preseason is to work, meet and conditions are good. The fact that it's not as hot as elsewhere allows us to increase our intensity. Australia is a spectacular place, despite the weather. For me, I've been training in England, so I like how this weather impacts the pitch and the grass. The preseason is meant for the players to get back to playing together and used to my style.
He also discussed the importance of having Cristiano Ronaldo on his roster.
Cristiano is a very important player for us. The fact that I'm here with the whole group is very satisfying. Cristiano and I are talking about ways to move forward to improve group dynamics and take the team to its full potential.
Real Madrid's manager explained what he wants from his players.
Real Madrid is Real Madrid. We want to make it a team that will win every game and to win many titles.
He also shared his thoughts on Casillas' departure:
Iker is a living legend of Real Madrid and the best goalkeeper in the club's history. Iker has decided to go to another team. As a coach I have to respect that decision and I wish him all the best.
