Kiko Casilla is set to become a Real Madrid player very soon. The Spanish goalkeeper will sign for €6 million in the next few days, according to As. Even Espanyol's manager Sergio González admitted that this is a "once in a lifetime opportunity for Kiko which he must use", all but confirming Casilla's departure from Espanyol.
Casilla will likely be Real Madrid's reserve goalkeeper no matter if Los Blancos sign De Gea this summer or not. If De Gea stays put one more year and joins Real Madrid next summer as a free agent, Keylor Navas and Casilla will fight for the starting spot this next season, with the Costa Rican apparently having the edge. If De Gea signs, though, Keylor Navas would leave to find a starting spot elsewhere, meaning that Casilla would still be De Gea's replacement.
Casilla is a decent keeper, but definitely not one ready to take over Real madrid's goalkeeper spot.
