Months ago, Real Madrid were considering adding Marco Verratti to the squad. The Italian midfielder was a very interesting player for Carlo Ancelotti's project and one that could be available if Paul Pogba was going to sign for PSG this summer. However, when Real Madrid decided not to keep Ancelotti as their manager, they also said no to Verratti, who was reportedly interested in playing for Ancelotti again.
New coach Rafa Benítez appears to have new tactical ideas in mind in which Verratti would not fit as much. He was perfect for Ancelotti's 4-3-3, but Benítez simply doesn't need him.
Furthermore, Real Madrid are not willing to offer him €7 million per year because that would unsettle the dressing room even more after what's happening with Sergio Ramos. It will be interesting to see what finally happens with Marco Verratti, but if Josep Pedrerol's report is accurate, the Italian will not sign for Real Madrid any time soon.
