Real Madrid need to sign David De Gea this summer no matter what and even if that means selling Ramos to Manchester United in the process. That's what the board thinks, according to El País. The British club offered €60 million for Ramos and if that offer is accepted, they would let De Gea join Madrid this summer, per that same report.
Although everything about Ramos appears to be calm now, the defender still wants to leave Real Madrid. And that has given United the perfect excuse to hold on De Gea unless Real decide to let Ramos go. It's not an easy decision, but Navas and Casilla's lack of experience in elite clubs could be detrimental to the team's performance this season, so Real Madrid are determined to sign De Gea now.
The controversy over Ramos' extension could've damaged his public image and reputation within the fans and that would be another aspect Real Madrid are considering.
Louis Van Gaal himself confirmed during yesterday's press conference that they are interested in Ramos by saying that "signings are a process and maybe Ramos is in that kind of process".
