Real Madrid had a whole week to work in order to improve their performance against Roma. Benítez's side is obviously a 'work in progress' but the Spanish manager will be eager to see some positive signs against a Manchester City squad that will be tough to beat.

Kiko Casilla and Casemiro will be available after joining the group this week, meaning that Benítez will have more strength in the midfield at his disposal and also another goalkeeper in case he wants to see if Casilla is in better form than Navas. Still, Benítez will most likely mix his squad as he did against Roma. This time, it would be good to see what Isco can do with Bale and Ronaldo on the pitch, while this could also be a good opportunity to get a real look at Danilo. R

eal Madrid still have one month ahead before the season starts, so Benítez has plenty of time to work on his team and figure out what works best. After all, that's precisely what pre-seasons are for.
