The negotiations between Real Madrid and Manchester United over David De Gea are not going as well as Los Blancos were expecting, and that's why the goalkeeper will return to Manchester this next Monday to start the pre-season with United.

Once he's there, he will be offered a new contract extension as manager Louis Van Gaal refuses to let him join Real Madrid, sources told Managing Madrid. The Dutch coach is not giving up and wants to keep De Gea at all costs, but the Spanish will reject this new offer, something that will force Manchester United to discuss new terms with Real Madrid again.

Although most fans expected to see Casillas gone and De Gea signed by now, Real Madrid are not in a hurry. It would be good for Benítez to have the roster complete before the pre-season starts, but this is not a very likely scenario given that Los Blancos will travel to Australia in less than 10 days.
