Rafa Benitez would like to add some depth to his Real Madrid squad by signing a pure defensive midfielder and a reserve striker, per Marca. The Spanish manager doesn't think these two signings are indispensable as he's happy with the players at his disposal but he believes Real lacks some depth on those two spots.
According to that same report by Marca, Lucas Biglia and Fernando Llorente are Real's main two targets to improve the squad. Biglia is a pure defensive midfielder playing for Lazio. He's 29 years old and Benitez knows him well from his two seasons coaching in the Italian Serie A. Lazio want to get at least €40 million for the midfielder and that's a price Real Madrid are simply not willing to pay.
Things are a bit different with Fernando Llorente. The Spanish striker will almost surely be leaving Juventus this summer and his fee should not be prohibitive. He would bring a different style to Real's offense when needed because of his aerial game.
