Real Madrid have announced on their official website the signing of Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic. Kovacic joins from Inter Milan and will likely be an important player in Benítez's rotation policy.

He's 21 years old and one of the most promising midfielders in European football. It's true that it will be hard for him to become a starter in this team with Modric and Kroos on the roster, but Kovacic will learn from the Croatian and will definitely develop his game as a midfielder.

Real Madrid and Inter have not announced the transfer fee, but the latest rumors suggested that Real will pay around €33 million for Kovacic. The midfielder will be at Benítez's disposal for Sunday's opener against Sporting Gijón, although it will take him some time to adapt to his new teammates and Real's system.

Kovacic will be unveiled this Wednesday and he will sign a six-year contract with Real Madrid.
