Kovacic's number for Real Madrid unveiled

If someone needed more indications for Lucas Silva's departure, Kovacic was unveiled with the number 16, the one the Brazilian midfielder was wearing since he joined Real Madrid last winter.

The Croatian midfielder completed his move to Real Madrid this Tuesday after Los Blancos decided to pay €30 million for his transfer from Inter Milan. Kovacic will add a lot of depth to this squad and both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos will now have a quality replacement.

Real's 2014/2015 was severely affected when Modric got injured, and that's something the coaching staff want to avoid this time with the signing of Kovacic, a player who could step in and replace Modric's playmaking skills when needed. Benítez likes to rotate his squad and the Croatian will be very useful, there's no question about that. Casemiro will also provide a defensive effort if needed.
