Real Madrid have completed the loan deal for 18-year old left-back Mathías Rodríguez. The Uruguayan player is a product of Peñarol's academy and will play for Castilla this season. If his performances are good enough, Madrid will be able to sign him permanently as a buyout clause has been included on the deal.
Rodríguez has not made his debut with Peñarol's first team, something that should have probably happened because he is 18 years old already. Still, this is a similar move to the one Real Madrid made for Casemiro three years ago and the Brazilian has impressed ever since that happened. It's true that Casemiro's circumstances were different, but maybe Rodríguez has the quality to be a useful player for Zidane as Castilla try to come back to the Spanish Segunda División.
"When they told me I was going to Real Madrid my legs were shaking, my mother could not believe what I was saying," said Rodríguez about the signing in Uruguayan show Tiempo de Fútbol.
