Fàbio Coentrao is leaving Real Madrid for AS Monaco, as Real Madrid confirmed on their official website. The Portuguese defender has not featured in a single match ever since Benítez took over and ha barely played last season either, showing an evident lack of commitment.
It seems that Monaco were not willing to sign Coentrao permanently because of those issues. He clearly was one player that shouldn't be trusted for Real Madrid as Los Blancos accepted a meaningless loan deal that hurts the team's depth.
Marcelo is now the undisputed starter for Real Madrid but if he gets injured Arbeloa would be the only possible replacement unless Benítez decides to use either Carvajal or Danilo on the left flank. Ricardo Rodríguez was rumored to be on Real's radar but Los Blancos will not sign the Swiss player before the end of the transfer window unless something really big and surprising happens
