Manchester United confirmed De Gea's contract extension. He will be with United until 2019 with a player option for an additional season.
Here's what De Gea said after signing the deal:
"I am delighted to be starting this new chapter in my United career. I have always enjoyed playing with these great players in front of our fantastic fans. Manchester United is a special club and Old Trafford is an ideal place for me to continue to develop my career. I'm looking forward to putting a difficult summer behind me and concentrating on working hard to improve and help my teammates to be successful."
It seems quite evident that De Gea blames Real Madrid for the collapse of the deal. Otherwise, he's giving United what the British club wanted in the first place. That unless he added a release clause on his new contract, of course. Say good-bye to De Gea for a while.
