Real Madrid made their debut in the 2015/2016 edition of the UEFA Champions League with a good 4-0 win against Shakhtar. Still, many fans will be worried given that Bale, Varane and Ramos all had to leave the game with injuries. Rafa Benítez talked to the press after the game and assessed the condition of his players.

"Bale had a cramp in his calf and we will have to wait a few days to know how serious this is. Varane and Ramos had knocks and I'm optimistic with them," said the manager about the injuries. "I'm not worried about the injuries, most of our players are healthy and today's problems were not serious," he added.

Benítez decided to play Kovacic as soon as Bale was forced to leave the game."I played him there because he is used to that position from his time in Italy," explained the coach. "It was a difficult match as they are dangerous on offense, it wasn't easy to control them. We had a lot of chances and we were not brilliant, but I can say that the only negative point were those three injuries," concluded Benítez.
