Ramos set to start vs Bilbao, could risk a setback

Sergio Ramos is working hard to recover in time for Wednesday's match against Athletic Bilbao. The defender suffered a shoulder injury against Shakhtar which should take a bit longer to heal, but he's willing to play through this injury to help his teammates in what will be a tough match in San Mamés.

Either way, Ramos' presence in the XI is not a must for Benítez now that both Varane and Pepe are ready to play. It's true that Ramos' passing ability would be helpful against Bilbao's presence, but Varane and Pepe are very good defenders who should have enough to take care of Bilbao's attacking system.

If Ramos wants to play, he will. It would not be a smart move to risk a serious injury this early in the season, but Ramos is stubborn and he will be in the starting XI if he wants to. It will all depend on how his shoulder feels.
