Florentino Pérez says that the "new Manchester United executives lack the experience needed" to complete the transfer of De Gea at the deadline." Real Madrid's President was interviewed by Cadena SER and blamed United's board for the collapse of the deal.
"It has happened twice or three times to them. Last year it was the same when Coentrao almost joined Manchester United but the documents did not arrive in time, just like it happened on Monday," said Florentino Pérez. "And I must add that it happened with Ander Herrera a couple years ago, so maybe their new executives lack the experience and have not learned from their past mistakes," he added.
Pérez did not say whether Real Madrid will be interested in De Gea next summer or not. De Gea could either sign a contract extension with United or wait to become a free agent and join Real Madrid next June. "He was frustrated after the deal wasn't done, he was excited to join Real Madrid," explained Pérez.
