Things are working out fairly well for Marco Asensio. The Spanish wonder kid was initially reluctant to leave Real Madrid on a loan deal but he's been a key player for Espanyol and his development as a player in his first season in the Spanish Liga BBVA is definitely promising. According to MARCA, he's so happy that he would be willing to spend another season on loan with Espanyol next year.
Asensio, an attacking midfielder who can also play on the left wing, doesn't have a clear spot in this team with the current players. James, Isco and even Cristiano Ronaldo would be competing with him for that spot and that's a big hurdle to overcome, so Asensio is probably right when he thinks that another year on loan would ultimately help him.
Depending on what happens with the FIFA ban, Real Madrid could retain him next season to provide some depth to this roster.
