Gareth Bale picked up an ankle injury during Real Madrid's 1-2 win against Sporting Portugal and had to leave the game being replaced by Marco Asensio.

The Welsh attacker has his right ankle inflamed and will test it tomorrow to see how big his injury is and whether or not he'll be available for the upcoming Clasico against FC Barcelona, club sources told Managing Madrid.

Needless to say, Bale would be a devastating loss for Real Madrid. He's been in very good form ever since the season started and even though quality players like Asensio or James could use a chance to prove their worth, Zidane is clearly crossing his fingers hoping that the X-rays come back negative.

Marcelo also appeared to have injured his ankle during the game but he managed to get back on the field and play more minutes until Zidane decided to sub him for Fabio Coentrao late in the second half.
